We’ve all been working on our PC or gaming system and gotten to a place where we’re left stumped, unsure of how to proceed. For times like these, we’ve decided to create resources for builders who need a little help. Use this guide to learn how to swap mounting brackets with ease!
Important Notes Before Beginning
All mounting brackets are not created equally, therefore our tips may not work based which model and size you have. Pay attention to the details we mention as we go along to figure out if this will work for your mounting bracket.
Check Your AMD Socket AM4 Compatibility
Check the hole pattern on your block to make sure it is compatible. If it is not, unfortunately, this guide will not help you directly but if you are jumping from an AMD socket, Intel platform or EK-Supremacy EVO water block, you can use this guide to swap your mounting bracket. Though these are made by different manufacturers, this strategy will work.
Disassemble the Water Block
In order to begin, you must disassemble the water block. To do so, you will need a 2.5mm Allen key. This key comes with all EK-Supremacy EVO purchases but if you have a different model, you may need to purchase this piece. Unscrew the four bolts holding the water block together and disassemble its components. To use the EK-Supremacy EVO as an example, the components you should have after disassembling the water block are:
- Jet plate
- Insert pin
- Rubber gasket
- Mounting bracket
Replace & Reassemble
Replace your mounting bracket with the new one you’ve purchased and reassemble your water block. The easiest way to reassemble an EK-Supremacy EVO is:
- Place your rubber gasket over the groove
- Insert along with the pin
- Place your jet plate over the insert
- Put your new mounting bracket in place. Aim the base to align with the screw holes
- Enter and secure the screws.
